Stacking discount codes on Shopify
Shopify only allows one discount code to be applied at a time on the Checkout page. This is an intended limitation of Shopify to avoid abuse (stacking multiple discount codes). Shopify has documented this limitation here:
Discount codes don't stack. If you have a 10% off discount, they can't also use a "free shipping" coupon. Only one discount at a time can apply to a single order.
Because of this, you will need to make sure that no other discount code is applied automatically at Checkout if you are using Vitals upsell apps like Volume Discounts or Product Bundles. Our apps will dynamically generate a discount code and apply it if you have these apps enabled.
In such cases where discount codes are available for the visitors, even if you are using Volume Discounts and Product Bundles, it is up to the visitor to decide which discount they want to use. They can either keep the automatically generated one or use a discount code that they already have and replace it on the Checkout page.
The scenarios in which a visitor might have an additional discount code are the following:
- A first-time visitor that received a discount from the Wheel of Fortune app.
- Special promotion discount code received from Pop-ups or Announcement Bars.
- Discount codes publicly available in your store or received from marketing emails.
To avoid confusing your customers and conflicts where the discount is not automatically applied at Checkout, make sure you do not use multiple upsell apps simultaneously.
